Alkydigger NE 1

Richard Brady

The Alkydigger Nostalgia Eliminator 1 class found Richard Brady driving the Al Mallory injected front engine digger on a mission. After leading the points earlier this year, the Brady/Mallory team was knocked off the top perch by Team 'Blown Inheritance' with driver Chris Graves after the last stop in Noble.

With Graves grabbing the #1 qualifying position (with a 4.703) and the Neil & Parks Bonus that comes with it, it appeared Graves was on his way to extending his lead.  But with the 'Bad Behavior Racing' NE1 cash Bounty on his head, Graves' wife Tera had different plans with a round 1 draw against her hubby. The Brady/Mallory team became Tera's biggest fans when she took out the points leader and #1 qualifier in round 1, which opened the door at the top of the championship chase.

Tera driving the Darrell Walden dragster out of Kilgore would go on to the final round and face off with her new fans in Brady and Mallory.  However, they did not cut her any slack and took the class win in Kennedale running 4.705/145.58 to Tera’s 4.724/151.05.  That put Richard Brady at the top again with two races left in 2016.

Alkydigger NE2

Stephen Hansen

Qualifying found points leader Jason Scott at the top of the NE2 qualifying order at 5.01. It appears only last year's champ Bruce Dodson has the only chance to chase down Scott for the championship and he put his best foot forward by qualifying right behind Scott for the number-two slot with a 5.03.

Scott and Dodson unfortunately ran into newcomer Stephen Hansen from Red Oak, Texas, and that kept either of them from winning at Kennedale as Hansen grabbed his first SHRA win with a 5.080/129.65 to Dodson’s 5.132/135.12.

This leaves Dodson within two rounds of Scott for the top position and this battle will surely continue in Wichita Falls on September 10th.
