Today’s fully restored version of the ‘Law’ as presented at the recent ‘Rust Revival’ in Wayland, Mo. ,May 20-22. Tom and his lady are seated behind the car at the base of a grain bin in the packed small town.

No one who raced or watched at Kahoka during the mid ‘60s will ever forget ‘Wildman’ Curt Wasson and his black ’60 Corvette. Curt continued to race when Funny Cars were popular as shown here with his first FC, a black Vega called ‘Superstitious’. Curt is pictured here (white T shirt w/hand on trailer) at an early Funny Car race. Tragically, Curt’s life was cut short by a motorcycle accident away from racing in 1971.

We started this story two months ago, before making final plans to actually do the ‘Bucket Trip’. We found and were sent several photos from action at Kahoka which were not seen before. While we were there, the information just flowed. We drove down the original track which is still in great shape even after all these years. A pair of race horses were being trained on the track that day. SAY WHAT? Customers at Cookies Dinner in Kahoka assured us that the yearly ‘Mule Festival’ packs the Fairgrounds to the maximum (once a year). Well, it was pretty SRO back in 1963 when Art Arfons’ Jet was there and at the Fall Festival of Drag Racing won by Don Garlits!

Until Next Time, Be On Time!
