The next event was scheduled to be in Utah, however Mother Nature was not in the mood for drag racing, and the event was rescheduled for later in the year.

The tour of funny cars then moved north of the border to Mission Raceway. Mission is known for having great air and excellent track conditions. At this event, it was two interlopers from the IHRA tour Tim Boychuk and Mark Sanders that made it to the final round. The Canadian Boychuk took the win on his home soil, therefore it was Happy Hour in Mission for the Boychuk team.

The funny car fraternity made its second trip to Idaho. Steven Densham took the win over Cory Lee in the California Hustler, giving Densham an opening to catching up with Krabill in the points. The Denshams had a game plan after the Boise event. “This win gave us some momentum, going to Salt Lake, and we have always done well there. If we can repeat in Salt Lake, it will take it to Bakersfield for the championship,” stated Steven Densham in their pits after the Boise win.

It is well known that all good plans do not always come to fruition. That is what unfortunately happened with Densham’s plans in Utah. The Krabill juggernaut had got back on track and steam rolled the competition, taking both the win and the 2016 title. Densham did some self-inflected damage in the semifinals when he took out the cones at the end of the track, resulting in an automatic disqualification.
