But from a crowd appeal standpoint it goes much deeper. IMHO only one car, the Champion Speed Shop "batmobile" driven by Adam Sorokin, has any real identifying character. Well, maybe Brendan Murry, too. The others are a bunch of alien creatures that bear little resemblance to a mid-‘60s T/F car.

We went through this deal 40+ years ago, when Funny Cars grabbed the spotlight from a herd of "plain Jane" diggers. History repeats itself.

Anybody got any info?

Was wondering if you have any news about new B/Fuel Class being formed? I heard the rules committee is comprised of Rick Stokey, Dean Adams, Ted Ingersole, and Gary Adams, and is aimed at upper 6-second ETs at over 200 mph, front engined dragsters, altereds, and funny cars injected on nitro in a heads-up format.

Now we don’t condone this, kids

Back in 1968-69, every other Sunday at Laplace Dragway outside of New Orleans, my mother would give me one or two bucks and drop me off at the gate. I’d sneak in pretending to be under age 12 (free admission w/ parent). I saw a lot of legends of day there, but my favorite and the one to this day I never saw race was Jungle. I’m 56 now and still disappointed over that.

Thank you for your site and for keeping the memories alive.

Bakersfield experience is weighing on his mind

Had a great time as always at the CHRR! BUT, I do think that Famoso does too much track prep. Keep the show going guys!

I'm also SICK of dodging golf carts piloted by, well, people that are just too damn fat to walk! Disabled or elderly fine, but just too huge? No! If you can't even walk the quarter mile, lose some weight!

Just wait till next year

Jeff, thanks for the great coverage of the Victory Performance N/SS Series. Your coverage and pics of the finals at Lucas Oil Raceway was great! My season wasn't good: a lot of gremlins and a serious break at Cedar Falls. I'll be back next season for sure!

Thank you and all of your crew, for supporting us and all the drag racers!

No grief with Rieff

I'm sitting here watching the Maple Grove race on ESPN2 and just have to say that the broadcast combo of Dave Rieff and Mike Dunn is absolutely fantastic. Two young(ish) guys who both know and love drag racing and Dave is just a consummate announcer who really reminds me of Dave McClelland. I really believe the telecast would be much more popular with good announcing like this, I just hope someone can be convinced to keep Dave in the lead spot instead of kind of wasting his talents in the small role he has had in the past.

Sincerely,

Roger Annabel
