Gaydosh returns to racing at Reading

Motor City Showdown is Saturday, Sept. 23

Saturday, Sept. 23, will usher in a new racing era in the motor capital of the world with the inaugural Motor City Showdown at the Coleman A. Young International Airport (Detroit City Airport) located on Detroit’s east side.

The Motor City Showdown is the first organized drag racing event in the City of Detroit. The event will feature 32 of the fastest and most technologically advanced American muscle in the world with hot rods in excess of 2,000 horsepower and the fearless drivers who wheel them.

The man behind this inaugural event is none other than Detroit’s own Brian Olatunji, mechanical engineer, entrepreneur and professional NHRA race car driver. He and the Leadfoot Events team are pleased to bring this historic event to Detroit.

“I grew up in Detroit and the automotive landscape shaped the direction I took in life as both an engineer and race car driver,” said Olatunji. “Racing has been in my blood since birth and I want to share that passion with the city of Detroit and the world.”

Detroit Police Chief James Craig will serve as Grand Marshal of the event and Dodge will be onsite to host the VIP experience to showcase the Demon, the world’s fastest street legal production drag car ever.

Martin charged back and ran dead on his dial at 7.640 for the win and the trophy. Weinreich, Rosedale, Md., and Youndt, Stevens, Pa., took the wins in Pro ET and Motorcycle respectively. Weinreich wheeled his '69 Dart to the win when Chris Gonier, Monroe, N.J., left early with the red light.
