Can Romine hit 260+ again?

Paul Romine has won the two previous DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenges at San Antonio, TX, and Cedar Falls, IA, and is hoping to extend the streak Sept. 22-23 at Tulsa Raceway Park.

The Indianapolis driver of the “Man O’ War” Mustang reached a whopping 260.87 mph earlier this month at US 131 Motorsports Park. With the DRO series allowing 44 amp mags for the first time at Tulsa, will that make a difference in performance?

Champions named for Group 2 NHRA Heritage Series classes

Dustin Lee clinched the NE1 championship with his first-round win at Bakersfield.

The first wave of 2017 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Champions were crowned this past weekend at Auto Club Famoso Raceway and the Nostalgia Fall Championships.

See the race report at here.

The five remaining NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series classes (Nostalgia Top Fuel, Nostalgia Funny Car, A/Fuel, Jr. Fuel and 7.0 Pro) will wrap up their season and crown champions at the California Hot Rod Reunion presented by Automobile Club of Southern California back at Famoso, Oct. 20-22.

Mid-Atlantic championships come down to final race

The season ending championships will also be settled at Atco and currently they are too close to call. In Super Comp the red-hot Amanda Boicesco rolls her ATI Performance Transmissions Dragster into the MASCA lead and has about a four-round lead over second place Bill Hardifer and third place Kathy Smulligan.

In Super Gas Tom Goldman holds the MASGA points lead in his “Bullets to Spare II” Corvette Roadster but will have some stiff competition from second place George Smith, Sean Lang, Hank Smith and Derek Clark.

In Super Street Keith Mayers will be looking for his fourth straight championship in the series but may face his toughest year to date as he finds himself in second place going into the finale. Currently Dom Burgese holds the point lead by four points with Marty Ganjoin in third and the biggest threat is in fourth place and Jimmy Stack who is still claiming two races.

More departures at Heartland Park

The Agent heard that the Drag Race Director and former NHRA staffer, Ron Conner, and his wife, Darla, the Office Manager, both have departed Heartland Park Topeka.

If the Agent has his math correct, that now makes six major departures from HPT since Scott and Laura Gardner resigned back in August. The Agent wonders out loud what the heck is happening in Topeka?

Gassers hold last points race Saturday

The final race of the GRS group will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, at Leicester, New York’s Empire Dragway.

In addition to the gassers, the event will run NOS Pro Stock and Empire Outlaws.

NMCA World Street Finals this weekend at Indy

The NMCA Muscle Car Nationals is at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis on Sept. 21-24.

The 17th Annual NMCA World Street Finals features heads-up drag racing, an all-American car show on both Saturday and Sunday as well as a giant manufacturer’s midway, burnout contest, and swap meet.

Featuring the 11th Annual Chevrolet Performance LSX Shootout, this event is the final stop on the NMCA national tour.
