Aussie Soldatos will drive Geddes Pro Stock

Australian Pro Stock competitor Chris Soldatos will compete at South Coast Raceway’s South Coast 660 next weekend in close friend Craig Geddes’ Cavalier.

The January 20-21 event marks round seven of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

With Geddes at the wheel, the 2004 Cavalier - a new car for Geddes - took out the Super Stock honors at the last round of the Series: the Rowe Memorial at Calder Park.

Now, Soldatos will take over the driving duties while Geddes looks to run his dragster for the remainder of the season.

“I wanted to run two cars at Portland, so I rang up Chris and asked if he wanted to drive – originally we were going to put him in the dragster, but I decided after that I want to run it for the rest of the season,” Geddes explained.

NMCA, NMRA expand role of Racer Text Message System

Last summer, NMRA/NMCA officials rolled out the Racer Text Message System as a means to communicate better with racers. This valuable tool is used to announce scheduling updates, staging lane calls, weather alerts, driver meetings, and much more throughout an event weekend. The Racer Text Message System will become even more valuable in 2018.

Their Facebook pages will contain event results, news, entertainment, and general information about the events.

Alerts will be sent via the Racer Text Message System and posted on their websites with special racer details like competition daily scheduling, rules updates, points updates, racer announcements, and other direct competition communication.

DeJoria eventually may return to racing

Alexis DeJoria may return to racing when her children are older, the newly retired Funny Car driver told In Depth with Graham Bensinger.

The nationally syndicated show was doing an interview with her father, billionaire John Paul DeJoria, and Alexis made an appearance.

“Maybe when the girls are out of the house, in college or something like that – I might,” Ms. DeJoria said. “Or I might just do some fun countdown races or maybe race Indy… It’s hard to find a team that will come together for just a couple races… It just all depends on what’s out there and really what I’m willing to sacrifice at home to do that again. But as far as a full-time schedule, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.”
