DENSO to sponsor Mr. & Mrs. Smith

DENSO Products and Services Americas, Inc., an affiliate of leading global automotive supplier DENSO Corp., will serve as the lead sponsor of Pro Stock Motorcycle racers Angie and Matt Smith in the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. The move builds on DENSO’s support for the husband-and-wife teammates by elevating DENSO’s associate sponsorship of Matt to a primary sponsorship and renewing DENSO’s primary sponsorship of Angie Smith (shown) for the second consecutive year.

In addition to sponsoring Angie and Matt Smith, DENSO is the title sponsor of the DENSO NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway scheduled for April 5-7. DENSO has served as the title sponsor of the weekend race and a supporting sponsor of the entire NHRA Mello Yello Series for the last three years. In August, DENSO extended the title sponsorship through 2021.

Gatornationals, Part 5

It was wild at the 1993 Gatornationals in Funny Car action as Gary Bolger in Dale Creasy's “Tyrant” alongside Cruz Pedregon during qualifying pushed out a head gasket!

MIA: Schumacher still looking for a few good sponsors

Was Tony Schumacher’s last appearance at Pomona in November his “last appearance?”

Although team owner Don Schumacher told the Agent last year that his son Tony would not be driving a Top Fuel dragster this season if a replacement sponsor for the U.S. Army could not be found -- and the Agent duly reported that fact! – some people were surprised to not see Tony Schumacher among the entrants for the Winternationals. No sponsor, no racing.

DSR will have Top Fuel drivers Antron Brown and Leah Pritchett at the season opener, along with Funny Car drivers Jack Beckman, Ron Capps, Matt Hagan and Tommy Johnson Jr. But when Tony will return is still a question.

Kelly will be ‘Fuelin’ Around’ at Winternationals

J.K. Kelly, author of the motorsports novel FUELIN’ AROUND, will be signing copies of his latest book at the Drag Racing Association of Women booth on the NHRA Midway at the season opening Winternationals February 7-10 at the L.A. County Fairplex.

“Jim very graciously offered to give DRAW the profits off each book they sell on the midway throughout the season as a donation,” said Steve Leseur, DRAW Board Member. “Having been involved in the development of his story from the beginning, I am pleased to be able to offer this window into the motorsports industry to the public.”

Kelly will be at the DRAW booth in Pomona each day from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
