At the NHRA New England Nationals DeFlorian’s Camaro turned in a 6.297 at 224.28 mph while Pluchino’s Mustang turned on the dreaded red light.
In the final of four Mountain Motor Pro Stock appearances with the NHRA this season John DeFlorian Jr. of Arnold, MO, took the win over Johnny Pluchino, the PDRA Pro Outlaw 632 points leader from Oakdale, NY, who was making his second appearance with the group.
DeFlorian won the first MMPS exhibition of the season at Houston with Chris Powers winning at the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals and Todd Hoerner at Bristol.
The class has proved to be popular with the fans and the Agent can only hope the NHRA sees the advantage to having them back again next season. [07/09/19]
Mike Coughlin scored his first Top Dragster victory in two years Sunday, July 7, beating five tough challengers in elimination action to take the crown of the Summer Spectacle at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. The event was the third on this year's North Central Division schedule in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.
After struggling with a promising-at-times but ultimately unpredictable power-adder, Coughlin and crew recently switched to a Fowler F12 roots-style blower made by Columbus, Ohio-based machinist Jeff Fowler. Together with the ComSYNC EFI system the team has been using, Coughlin's black-tipped dragster turned into a true bracket car this weekend, running perfect passes lap after lap.

Oklahoma racer Aaron Wells was the most recent MWPMS winner and currently leads the Pro Mod class points.
After a two-month break, the 2019 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Pro Mod Series will resume July 12-13, with its inaugural appearance at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, TX, just south of Dallas.
To help fans and racers combat the July heat in Texas, the series will run three rounds of qualifying on Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. for the pros. On Saturday there will be a last round of qualifying at 6 p.m. followed immediately by eliminations. [07/09/19]

Agent 1320 has received news from reliable sources that the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car is on the move, headed for South Africa, to begin high speed testing. The car and team should be in place during September and begin testing in October through mid-November.
Initial testing in 2019 is with the intent of getting the car up to 500 MPH and if all goes well, perhaps faster. The goal is to collect data from the car in service on the race course at Hakskeen Pan. The team needs to look closely at how the car behaves at various speeds and how this behavior relates to the actual race course. The engineers will be looking closely at real time data on high speed stability, actual drag, effects of braking procedures and more.
If all goes well, in 2020 the team intends to break the world land speed record of 763.035 MPH set by Andy Green in October of 1997 at Black Rock, Nevada, by going 800 MPH. Once this is achieved they will press on to the 1,000-MPH mark the car is designed to run. [07/09/19]
Mike Smith from Boynton Beach, FL, made the trek to New Hampshire for the New England Nationals. He qualified 14th in the 15-car Funny Car field and lost in the first round to Ron Capps. Smith is the son of tuner Paul Smith and brother of John “Bodie” Smith. [07/09/19]
