Hot Rod Happening at Houston

The Houston metro area has had an array of drag racing action to consume the last few weeks with the Spring Stampede Test Session, ADRL Dragpalooza V and the NHRA O’Reilly Spring Nationals. So, why stop now? The latest installment of quarter-mile madness came April 4 in the form of the Texas National Guard Hot Rod Happening at Graham Baker’s Houston Motorsports Park with The Texas Outlaw Pro Modified Association’s second event of their 2009 campaign.

In addition to the Pro Mods, a rod run and car show took place, Mike Hojnacki and the Police Interceptor Jet Funny Car was on hand and the always-competitive S&S Racing Index Series kept the action going into the night. Houston Motorsports Park did their part to draw their loyal fans with $10 admission, with a discount coupon from O’Reilly Auto Parts, and $1 hot dogs and $1 soft drinks, and the stands were full when the first tire turned in the water box.
