Jeremy Griffie and his #1 qualifying ‘99 Dodge Dakota ran too quick, with a 8.507, but nevertheless got by Roger Holder Sr. when Holder would do the unspeakable... RED LIGHT. Next, out came Chris Martin in the #2 spot with his ‘66 Nova to match up with Wayland Bolen and his ‘76 Cobra 2. Martin had problems, so that gave Bolen the single and the win at 8.828.

The ‘08 Champion, Rick Logsdon, in his outstanding ‘55 Chevy Bel Air went up against the ‘66 Nova of Jim Stewart from Santa Paula. It’s not like Logsdon to have a bad light, but between the light and Stewart’s better .030, it was off to the trailer for the ‘55. Stewart and Bolen were set to face off in the final when the high winds hit.

But it wasn’t just finals that saw their time in the sun cut short by the windy weather; several whole classes were unable to get even a single run in, including C, D, and E Gas, Open Comp, and Sportsman. In the end, the purse was split evenly among the racers still in competition when the race was called. Those who were unable to finish their competition will be able to run for points and trophies during the qualifying WCHRA Summernationals in June.
