So far only three Top Fuel cars have ran in the fives. Denver Shutz, Roger Lechtenberg and Howard Haight.
Shutz in his '95 Stirling built Top Fueler claiming a 392 inch hemi for power has ran a string of 5.80 including a best of 5.837/250.36 in the first round of Eliminations.
Lechtenberg has ran a best of 5.985/254.09
Howard Haight ran his best time in the first Round of Eliminations with a 5.960 He had ran a 253.90 in qualifying
Each and everyone of the eight AA/FC cars at the event were thouroughly
teched for safety and adherence to the NHRA/HRH Rules. Every cars was weighed,
blowers checked, Supercharger pulley teeth counted, and every cars belts,
cans, wheels, firesuites etc were checked to the max by Goodguys Tech Director
Larry Westerfeld. It is safe to day all of thye cars at this race were
and are 100 percent legal!
Eight AA/FC cars and 12 Top Fuel cars were on the grounds. Seven AA/FC
showed for the first round with only number six qualifier Randy Walls a
now show. He hurt some main bearings on his only pass yesterday and since
he is committed to going to bowling Green KY for the Hot Rod Reunion next
weekend he opted to not fix the engine and try to race today. His best
pass was a 7.021/`89.90
