GoodGuys at Indy

Rookie AA/FC driver/owner Peter Galan went from getting his AA/FC license at Maple Grove last weekend, to the body shop to get paint and then drove all night Thursday night from Broomoll, Pennsylvania to Indianapolis Raceway Park and then on his first competitive pass put his immaculate '74 Vega on the pole with a career best 6.106/198.47. He was followed Shawn Bowen in his newly re-furbished, Arias-powered '78 Firebird at 6.276/192.52. he was followed by Newark Delawars's own Steve Nichols. Nichols drove his 427 Chevy-powered '70 Camaro to a 6.346 and top speed of the meet at 227.38. Nichols stepped on and off the throttle at about 1000ft and still ran 227 and change. Randy Baker in the '70 Maverick made a decent pass but burned a few pistons on his 6.44/188 shut-off pass. John Dunn in his '73 Duster ran a respectable 6.44/217 with a brand new clutch in the car that they are still learning and Randy Wallas holds down the sixth spot with a easy 7.021/189.90. Paul Romine had a fuel system malfuntion and shut the car off before he staged it.

We are expecting Kevin Lennon tommorrow which would make an eight-car field. The weather looks "iffy" for Saturday but good for Sunday.

In Top Fuel action ageless Denver Schutz towed from California and was in the first pair down the track. He ripped the guts out of his compeitition with a off the trailer 5.876/250.46. Schutz ran a 4.91 Thousand foot time in his 392ci Hemi-powered Stirling. The next closest time was recorded by Rick Rogers who also came in from the Coast and ran a 6.047 at just 226 with his 429 Donovan powered rail. Illinois racer Randy Bridges was third with a 6.109/244.34
Indiana racer Micheal Sexton is on the bump with a weak 7.624/172.89

In all 13 cars made laps 10 recieved ET andn Howard Haight the local Indy Top Fuel driver got the bonus points for putting the car sideways and still trippin ghe beams with a 6.06. He was DQ'd for crossing the centerline.
