The Bennett Family Topolino is on something of a roll in NFAA competition this year, with the heavily revised fuel system producing Personal Bests and the event win at the Easter Thunderball. This pattern was duplicated at the Summernationals, with a 6.426/191 on a very early click-off earning Frank a spot in the final round runoff against Dave Grabham which he duly won with a 6.571/196 to Grabham’s 7.172/178 (a PB from Grabham being excellent reward for the huge amount of work the Freddy’s Revenge team had put in after smashing up a few conrods at the Easter meeting).
Whilst the final shootout was an all Alky affair, the meeting also saw some stout performances from the nitro burners and the debut of the Felstead, Best & Lotssabeera Topolino. A couple of strong burnouts and a test launch were as far as the debut got, terminated by a shredded blower belt, but Jon Best looks comfortable in his new ride which accompanies his retro nitro slingshot that first hit the track late last season.
