July 5

Don Meziere’s roadster won Top Comp on Sunday with a 7.894/166.87 to Ryan Herem’s 7.978/165.15. Dave’s dragster took the Electronics win.

In the Electronics class, it was Dave Meziere of Meziere Enterprises taking the victory over “Dead-On” Don Gatlin. Gatlin went red by .003 handing Meziere the win, but he would have been tough to beat. Meziere was .005 on the tree and ran 8.120 on his 8.10 dial.

By winning the race, Meziere qualified for the Pacific High Reach Shootout at the end of the year, won a nice $1000 payout, and got a SCEDA Big Guy trophy.

Being the runner up on the day, Gatlin was still able to take over the points lead and is now one round ahead of Rob Strong.

In the semis, Meziere had the bye run, but still managed to put together an amazing .002 package. He was .001 on the tree and ran 8.101 on his 8.10 dial. In the other semi it was Gatlin defeating Alan Hoefer.

The Dial Rite was won by “Dead-On” Don Gatlin, who ran on his dial with an 8 to take the $70 prize. Cal Automotive once again gave $50 to the first competitor to go red in eliminations and today that went to Danny Fuentes.

The top five in points with four races left are Don Gatlin, Rob Strong, Brian Fischle, Mark Kirby, and Sam Boyd.

In the No-E class it was Scott Joines (above) taking the win over Dick Krieger. Krieger went red by .022 handing Joines the easy victory and stopping Krieger’s round win streak at 11.

By taking the win, Joines, who is one of the starters at the track, qualified for the Pacific High Reach Shootout at the end of the year, got $720, and received a SCEDA Big Guy Trophy.
