As of February 25 the March Meet pre-entries list shows 16 AA Fuel Dragsters and 35 AA Funny Cars with a possibility of eight more AA/Funny Car entries.

Over the Feb. 22-24 weekend more than 500 racecars took to the track for three days of testing and tuning on the famed Famoso concrete quarter mile.

Over the winter the Heritage rules for their Top Fuel class were amended to allow two-speed transmissions, and the M&H tire company issued the new 1400s series of Nostalgia Top Fuel tires with increased roll-out and tread width when compared to last year’s tires from M&H.

Mike Craig’s dragster with the new tire ran well in initial testing.   Driver Rick Williamson said of the new “taller” tire, “We’ve been having trouble with (too much) RPM’s through the lights and the taller tire (106 rollout) seems to help calm the engine down. We didn’t have a chance to make a full run, but overall it’s a neat tire.”  Williamson ran a weekend best of a 5.72 elapsed time, shutting off at 1,000 feet and he’s looking for a mid 260 mile per hour top end speed.
