Mike Sexton, 7.0 Pro winner.

Sixteen cars made the call for 7.0 PRO with Ohio's Billy Smith heading qualifying with a 7.012 to just edge Steve Knopp's 7.013 and perennial favorite Robbie Freels' 7.015. With excellent weather conditions for a June weekend in Kentucky (80 degrees temperatures and low humidity) there were a rash of double breakouts during eliminations but last year's winner, San Diego's Mike Smith, made it to the final round to meet Indiana's Mike Sexton. Sexton led by just over a tenth out of the gate with his best reaction time of eliminations and that was enough as Smith broke out with a 6.965/184.55 to Sexton's 7.023/191.08.

Todd Turley

With 18 cars, 7.50 Pro went five rounds to determine a winner and that was Ardmore, Oklahoma's Ross Laird who qualified mid pack but put together a series of good reaction times including a .006 in round two that helped him survive a double breakout over fellow Okie, Steve Matthews. Laird's final round opponent was Wayne Sears who has virtually owned the category in the Midwest with five points championships. Sears had made it to the final without running under but Laird had him out of the gate and Wayne's 7.467/172.39 put him further under than Ross' 7.487/175.59.
