The 2013 Champion, Tom Hoffman, narrowly defeated Tom Gaines in a battle of red Max Wedge Mopars. BJ Bax survived a starting line deficit when Jim Hagenhoff’s wheelstanding Plymouth slowed to a 9.92. Russ Berens looked strong with a .05 light and .04 over 10.04 to take out the fastest contender of race, Don Bruemmer’s Hemi 65 Plymouth.

Jeff Frees, father of Corimac, also looked strong in his victory over Bob Mosher’s Ford. Krueger made good use of his bye run, showing his qualifying was no fluke, running 11.006 on his 11.00 index.
