Having debuted on board the Pro Stocker his father Chris had raced around Europe in fine fashion a few seasons ago, Alex Hope put an exclamation point on his year with a series of PBs over the weekend culminating in a 7.2712/183.54 to take the ACU Pro Stock Bike event title. Stefan Hagenstein joined a cosmopolitan field in ACU Funny Bike with the German taking the event win over compatriot Thomas Joswig, Hagi having dipped into the sevens earlier in eliminations.
It was a tale of ‘like father like son’ for the Davies clan in ACU Comp Bike and Junior Drag Bike with Allan, onboard the Gipp Racing Suzuki securing the event win in the former class with a 7.5120 to 7.5445 victory over Phil Crossley that had about a wheel between the pair at the finishline. Son Louis joined his father in the winner’s circle (and we have a suspicion that this is a first on two wheels in the UK) when he lit the win light in the final of the junior class against Jordan Kenway.
The 8.50 and 9.50 index classes went the way of Martin Walker and his Hyena Hayabusa (over Jay Roe) and Steve Ashby onboard his Jester GSXR Suzuki (with an almost dead-on 9.5001 in the final against Paul Morris’s 9.5580).
