Josh Klugger brought out a new car for Radial vs. The World and ran a best of 4.19.

In round one, Mark Woodruff joined the 4.10 club with a 4.104 for low elapsed time of the round and followed it up with a 4.107 low for round two. He looked like the car to beat, but slipped in round three, while Duane Mills, Brad Edwards, Kyle Huttel, and Jamie Hancock advanced to the semifinals.

In the semis, Edwards took out Huttel, 4.30 to 4.33, and Hancock advanced to the finals when Mills broke in the battle of the quickest cars. Hancock ran a nice 4.12 to become the favorite.

In the final, Hancock took the starting line advantage over Edwards. He ran an exploding 4.48 at only 130 mph to defeat Edwards, who had even worse problems and slipped to a 4.76. The expected all-time record for radial cars failed to materialize during the event when high humidity robbed the cars of horsepower, but they will be back next February to try again.

Todd Moyer

In Hyperactive Performance/KBX Race Cars X275, 50 cars battled for 32 spots. Ron Rhodes qualified number one with his Leaf Spring car at 4.534 at 154 mph and battled his way to the final to meet Turbo Todd Moyer. Rhodes took a great startling line advantage with his .006 leave, but couldn’t hold off Moyer’s 4.574 with his 4.692.

Ron Rhodes

Rhodes had earlier won the Leaf Spring class with the same car, so it appears that the large number of laps was taking its toll. A win and a runner-up finish in the same car is pretty impressive! Rhodes’s 4.53 from qualifying held up as low elapsed time for the class.
