Mike Janis in his supercharged Camaro qualified No. 1 with a 5.77 effort to earn his ticket into the show.

Walsh cruised past Knowles and his supercharged Mustang, the turbocharged mount of Kevin Fiscus and got a bye into the finals when Gainesville winner Bob Rahaim was unable to answer the bell for the semifinals.

Kevin Fiscus

In eliminations Fiscus and supercharger racer Eric Latino had one of the most dramatic races the series has seen. Fiscus watched Latino leave first by .04 and hold that lead for most of the run, but Fiscus' turbocharged car made a top-end charge and chased Latino down at the last 60 feet of track for the win. It was an incredibly close race – Fiscus won by 0.0024 seconds, which meant he got to the stripe first by ten inches!
