AA Fuel Altered drivers to hold bench race session

Ron Hope, team owner and principal driver the of the AA/Fuel Altered “Rat Trap,” will organize a bench racing session of legendary AA/FA owners and drivers at the Wally Park NHRA Motorsports Museum on Friday, Feb. 9, during the NHRA Winternationals.

 

“Fast Jack” Beckman will moderate the event which will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free.  

Laguna Seca to host ‘Nitro Revival’ during May Spring Classic event

The distinct cackle of Nitro Revival will be coming to the Monterey Peninsula during the second annual Spring Classic on May 18-20. The gathering of vintage and restored nitromethane-powered drag cars and legendary drag racing personalities will take place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the iconic facility's vintage racing event with feature activity occurring on Saturday, May 19. The Spring Classic celebrates motorsports eras from the 1960s, '70s, '80s, and '90s.

 

"Nitro Revival is a unique car show with unique vehicles that celebrate drag racing," said Steve Gibbs, Nitro Revival producer. "Laguna Seca is an iconic place with a facility that can accommodate the growth of Nitro Revival, and we are able to add a historical drag race element to their event. There is a lot of drag racing history on the Central Coast and Bay Area. Monterey also has a lot to offer as a destination."

 

Nitro Revival will enhance the paddock experience of the three-day vintage race held May 18-20. The 11 run groups of approximately 200 historically-correct sports and race cars that will race on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course during the Spring Classic range from 1966-74 Can-Am to 1974-94 Stock Cars to Historic Motorcycle exhibitions. 

‘Blood will do it again at Oregon car show

The Winter Rod and Speed Show presented by Albany Burgerville and Wilson’s NAPA Auto Parts returns to the Linn County Fair and Expo Center in Albany, Oregon, on January 19-20. The event benefits the Children's Cancer Association.

 

Coming back is renowned artist Kenny Youngblood who will do a frame-able drawing of a hot rod or race car for each patron free for the asking. Youngblood, who was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame, designed many famous cars ranging from the ZZ Top car to the Mongoose and the Snake funny cars.

 

Over 100 hot rods, race cars, muscle cars and street rods have already entered. Race cars featured this year include Garry Fauble’s blown alcohol Studebaker Pro Mod and Rich Bailey's blown alcohol dragster. 

Sacramento track has limited space for chassis certification

Sacramento Raceway will hold a chassis certification day on Saturday, Feb. 3.  Space is limited, so reserve a time at here.  

Chili Bowl midget race goes live on MAVTV

Drag racers Ron Capps, Cruz Pedregon and Gary Scelzi have participated in the past, but not this year. 

 

MAVTV and Lucas Oil Racing TV will broadcast "LIVE" the 32nd running of the world famous Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals presented by General Tire, on Saturday night, Jan. 13, starting at 8:30pm ET, from the River Spirit Expo in Tulsa, OK.

 

Known as the Super Bowl of Midget racing, the 2018 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals attracts the cream of American race car drivers, including stars from Midgets, Late Model Dirt, Super Modified, World of Outlaws, NASCAR and USAC. Drivers hail from 24 US States plus Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, making it the world's largest indoor race.

 

With the number of 2018 Chili Bowl entries expected to top 250, the 2017 champion Christopher Bell again faces the daunting task of defeating the likes of five-time Chili Bowl champion Sammy Swindell, Rico Abreau, Kyle Larson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Jerry Coons Jr., Cory Kruseman and Kasey Kahne.

 

The telecast will feature a special "goodbye" to broadcast legend Dave Despain. The MAVTV/LORTV telecast will be anchored by Bob Dillner with Ken Stout and Rob Klepper handling commentary and Dave Argabright working the pits.

Burst Panels from Nitrous Express

Nitrous Express is now offering burst panels for 4500 series flanges and universal applications. These billet aluminum burst panels allow pressure relief protecting carburetors, throttle bodies and intake manifolds in case of a backfire. They are spring-loaded and O-ring equipped so the plates automatically reset and reseal after use.
