Tommy Johnson Jr. drives the Riley Kids Funny Car each year during the U.S. Nationals.
NHRA drivers will be joined by IndyCar drivers and others for the annual “This is How We Roll” bowling event to benefit Riley Hospital for Children and Riley Children’s Foundation. The event will be held, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 6:30-10:30 p.m. at Western Bowl, 6441 W. Washington St., Indianapolis.
Don Schumacher Racing hopes to raise $25,000 during the event to benefit the local children’s hospital. The team has raised over $600,000 for Riley Children’s Foundation since 2005.
Drag racers taking part include Antron Brown, Richie Crampton, Matt Hagan, Tommy Johnson Jr., Jonnie Lindberg, Cruz Pedregon, Leah Pritchett, and J.R. Todd. IndyCar drivers are Jack Harvey, Charlie Kimball, Pato O’Ward, and Alexander Rossi. In addition, Brian Lohnes (new lead host of NHRA on FOX) and David Freiburger (host of Roadkill) will bowl. The top five finishers in the DragParts.com Blown Alcohol Thunder Series were awarded for their season at the awards event held on Nov. 17 in conjunction with the Renegade Raceway Award Banquet.
Leading the way with his third championship title was Brent Jones of Stevensville, Montana. Runner up honors went to Canadian Dave Kroeker, the third-place recipient was Spokane’s Jeff Cassell, Jim Seivers was fourth, and Dave Newton rounds out the top five. [12/04/18]
Beginning next season Keizer Aluminum Wheels will reward winners and runners-up in certain IHRA classes with contingency. Top (Box), Mod (No Box), and Jr. Dragster drivers at Summit Sportsman Spectacular, Summit Team Finals, Junior Dragster Team Finals, and Summit SuperSeries World Finals events will be eligible.
