NHRA Pro Mods at Charlotte, NC

Reigning champion Mike Janis took his first victory of the season at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Charlotte, NC, in the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service. The Pro Mods returned to the area where they were born, the southeastern U.S.
“This Four-Wide is so unpredictable and I knew we had a good chance of winning, but you never know at a race like this,” said the veteran Elma, NY, racer.
Janis finished .0053-second (about 2 feet) ahead of runner-up Rickie Smith in the final quad which also included Erica Enders and “Stevie Fast” Jackson. Both Enders and Jackson were off the line fast, but had to click off their engines early in the run.
Erica Enders broke the Pro Mod speed record she had set two weeks before in Houston with a pass of 260.41 mph at zMax.
Jose Gonzalez had Low ET of 5.657 seconds, but came up third in the second quad.
