Factory Stocks to compete at eight NHRA events in 2020

The NHRA has announced that the SAMTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown will compete at eight events on the 2020 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. The heads-up contest showcases drag-racing ready, factory-built vehicles including Ford Mustang Cobra Jets, Dodge Challenger Drag Paks and Chevrolet COPO Camaros.

Chicago Jon sees ‘Stranger Things’ at U.S. Nationals

Warren “The Professor” Johnson (shown) wasn’t the only one not pleased with his performance and others’ at this year’s U.S. Nationals. NMCA announces 6-event schedule

The NMCA Muscle Car Nationals Series will consist of six events for 2020. In addition to drag racing each event includes an all-American car show, giant manufacturers’ midway, burnout contests as well as special events including the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series, Dave Duell Classic, Cobra Jet Showdown, Dodge // Mopar HEMI Shootout, and the Nitto Tire Super Bowl of Street-Legal Drag Racing.

April 2-5: NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, Atlanta Dragway

July 30-Aug. 2: NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street-Legal Drag Racing, Route 66 Raceway, Joliet, IL

Factory Stock added to ‘Great American Guaranteed Million’ competition

Already the first guaranteed-to-win $1 million purse for bracket racers, the Great American Guaranteed Million race added another opportunity as promoters Britt Cummings and Gaylon Rolison announced a special Factory Stock Showdown race at the event.

 

The race, which takes place May 20-25 at Memphis International Raceway, will include the popular class as one of the marquee attractions on Saturday, May 23. The class will have the same $3,000 entry fee that is in place for the million-dollar bracket race, and it will be a 16-car qualified field.

 

Cummings says he has already received verbal commitments from many of the top names in the class, including 2018 NHRA Factory Stock Showdown champion Leah Pritchett (shown), Mark Pawuk, Bo Butner, David Barton, Stephen Bell, Arthur Kohn, the Skillman family and several others. Off the Track: Matchbox cars nominated for Toy Hall of Fame

The National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY, which hosts the National Toy Hall of Fame, has announced the 2019 inductee finalists. One of the 12 nominees is Matchbox Cars.

 

Only two or three of the toys will be selected to the hall, the museum said, so you need to vote to make your choice known. Fans can vote for their favorite online through September 18 to help the 23-member panel make its picks. The inductees will be announced at a November 7 ceremony.
