Jake Chaisty set the Australian national H/MSA records for both ET and speed at 5.870 seconds and 117.51 mph during the recent Twilight Nationals. Now the racer from Wattle Grove, Western Australia, is heading homeward for Perth Motorplex and the Westernationals this weekend for the penultimate event of the ANDRA 2018/19 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.
Chaisty is currently third in the Super Stock point standings.
“I will just go out there and race the best I can and see what happens,” Chaisty said. “There is no point stressing about it, I will take each round as it comes. When it comes to the championship, I am just going with the flow.”
The 48th Westernationals will be held March 2-3 with the ANDRA Grand Final event also at Perth on April 6-7. [02/27/19]
Drag racers Matt Hagan and Leah Pritchett will have the honor of serving as co-Grand Marshals of the Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube on Sunday, March 3, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“It’s such a prestigious race and to be a part of the Pennzoil family is incredible,” said Pritchett. “Their support of our team is so far reaching. From the backing of the technology they put into our cars to involving us in their other levels of motorsports, it’s a dream come true. Being a Grand Marshal at a Cup Series race, it really doesn’t get bigger than that. I’m very honored and I look forward to seeing some of our crossover fans and introducing NHRA drag racing to a new crop of fans on a great stage in motorsports.”
The NHRA stars will give the official command to start engines for the 267-lap Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at 3:30 p.m. ET televised on FOX. [02/27/19]
Myers began his career as Media Relations Coordinator at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, NC, and held similar positions at Auto Club Famoso Raceway and with the NHRA. Most recently he was Manager of Sportsman Racing for the NHRA. [02/27/19]
Maybe it was because the lead-in basketball game ran almost a half-hour overtime, but we got no response to our request for reaction to the Pro Stock show on FS1 Tuesday night.
If you missed it, encore airings of the show will be broadcast Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 1 a.m. on FS2 and again at 5 a.m. on FS1, as well as Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11:30 p.m. on FS2 (all times Eastern).
And we still want to know what you think. Email editor@racingnetsource.com. [02/27/19]
MAHLE GM LSX Combo PowerPak Piston Kits
MAHLE Motorsport now offers the all new GM LSX Combo designed for high output, naturally aspirated power adder applications. This PowerPak kit offers the best of strength in an all forged 2618 aluminum alloy piston to allow for increased detonation resistance and a combination valve pocket design that will cover LS1, LS3 and LS7 cylinder heads. If the valve pocket layout is unknown when assembling the short block, these pistons will accommodate an LS1 style cathedral port, LS3 style rectangle port and also LS7 style cylinder heads. With listings for flat tops, dishes and domes, this Combo PowerPak Piston Kit will not lock you into a single configuration allowing for changes that can be made as needed. Compression ratios are available from 10:1 through 14:1 and bore options range from 4.000” to 4.185”. The kit comes complete with HV385 coated steel oil ring set: 1.0mm top, napier 1.0mm 2nd and 2.0mm. Developed for the serious speed enthusiast and professional racers alike, PowerPak pistons are all dual coated with a Phosphate coating that provides the piston’s characteristic gray appearance. This dry lubricant provides a lubricant film protection in the pin bores and ring grooves. Each slipper skirt is also treated with Grafal®, MAHLE’s proprietary coating to reduce wear, drag, scuffing, friction and piston noise.[02/27/19]
