Mendy Fry is the 2018 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Top Fuel champion.
This weekend marks the 61st March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA, the first event of the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series season. On the schedule are Top Fuel, Funny Cars and Groups 1 and 2.
The Top Fuel Internship program will return for its second year. The team effort between the Jim McLennan Foundation, Bakersfield College, Auto Club Famoso Raceway, and All-American Fuel Dragster coalition (AAFD) racers places select automotive students on Top Fuel crews for a real-world introduction to drag racing and course credit. Marion County Raceway in La Rue, OH, is celebrating its 50th year of operation in 2019 and new owners Katie Lotsberg and Kevin Jewer have signed a multi-year sanctioning agreement with the IHRA.
The track opened as a motocross facility in 1969 and held its first drag race in 1971.
Lotsberg and Jewer, both drag racers, first met at a race in New Hampshire and when the engaged couple had the opportunity to purchase Marion County Raceway, they jumped at it.
“We are familiar with racing,” said Lotsberg, “but a good surprise was how much this community loves this track and wants to see it stick around for a long time to come. We hope to keep it a great racing facility for another 50 years.” [03/05/19]
In addition to the Funny Cars, the Dirty South Gassers racers will be taking part along with the 5-second Old School Backhalf Shootout. [03/05/19]
Worx New 20-Volt LED Lights
WORX® offers two new cordless solutions to tackle a wide variety of projects including the 20V Multi-function LED Light. LED lights burn cooler than any other type of bulb and last longer too. The new WORX® 20V Multi-function LED Light features five functions including a flashlight, lantern, desk lamp with hi/lo settings, and flashing emergency light. As a flashlight, the 5.6 lb. (with battery) WORX 20V Multi-Function LED Light projects a beam of light that’s the equivalent of 130 lumens. The flashlight beam burns for 18 hours on a single charge of the 1.5 Ah battery. When used as a lantern, the multi-function LED light telescopes and can be placed in a vertical position or angled right or left to 140º. [03/05/19]
