AGENT 1320
There was a note in the Phlegm Building mayo jar written on the back of a Cheerwine soda label this morning. It says that after a year off the Russell Miller-backed Pro Boost team intends to return to the PDRA Pro Boost wars in 2019 with son Tylor Miller in the seat of a new Andy McCoy Race Cars ‘79 Corvette.
Rage Fuel System’s Mike Kopchick, who is tuner and crew chief for the team, spent the 2018 season developing a new engine program. The new Rage/Noonan Hemi engine, is to be based on a Noonan 4.9 bore center block that has been modified by Kopchick.
In addition to racing in the PDRA series, the team also will support the Carolina Extreme Pro Mod Association. [12/14/18]
The rumor that Don Schumacher will have a ten-race schedule for his ex-Army Top Fuel team with Schumacher Electric as the sponsor in 2019 was debunked by “The Don” himself. He told Agent 1320 in no uncertain terms that unless he secures a sponsor for his Top Fuel operation it will be parked -- and as of right now there is no sponsor.
He also confirmed he does have a sponsor for the Matt Hagan Funny Car and it will run in 2019, contrary to those rumors. [12/14/18]
Baldwin attended the Nitro University to receive her Top Alcohol Dragster crossover license in 2015. She made her national event debut at the 2016 Winternationals with team owner Anthony Dicero. Ever since then she has raced and crewed for then team owner Dicero with multiple drivers at the wheel. [12/14/18]
Former owner of the West Coast-based Nitro University A fuel dragster Anthony Dicero has accepted a full-time position with Justin Ashley Racing. Ashley, son of veteran team owner and driver Mike Ashley, will campaign an A/FD in 2019 and rumor has it he is looking to step up to Top Fuel as soon as he can. [12/14/18]
The Agent's sources confirm that Rick Jackson will be driving Shane Westerfield's TA/FC in 2019 replacing John Lombardo but probably without the NAPA sponsorship that Lombardo has had for years.
Rumor has it that Westerfield is putting together an NFC with Jim Whiteley, who would drive if the deal were to happen. [12/14/18]
Each event hosts a $25,000 payout including all sixteen qualified spots and tow money for the first two alternates. The 'A' field will pay $5,000 to win and 'B' field will pay $3,000 to win. The Best of Texas BBQ Sauce Championship will award the top five points finishers and the Champion will claim the ultimate bragging rights and $5,000 for their accomplishment. Aeroflow Performance and Rocket Industries have announced the two companies will be the lane sponsors next season at West Australia’s Perth Motorplex.
In addition, Aeroflow is sponsor of the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars, which will be featured at the Motorplex on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. [12/14/18]
Uber, via agency DDB Paris, is running a holiday campaign in Europe that invites people to order free rides in "Uber Toys." Ad Age reports the promotion began in Paris where six different oversize toy autos were on offer: a farm truck, a plasticine car, a rover with a spring, a Lego-like building brick vehicle, a remote-control automobile, and a doll van.
The campaign now moves on to Zurich (Dec. 16-18) and Vienna (Dec. 21-23). [12/14/18]
