Following the announcement last week that Project Bloodhound would be scrapped, a Yorkshire, England-based entrepreneur has stepped up to save the initiative to build a 1,000-mph land vehicle.
Ian Warhurst has purchased the business and assets of Bloodhound Programme Ltd., and will continue the project.
“Ian has a strong background in managing highly successful businesses in the automotive engineering sector and he will bring considerable expertise to bear in taking the project forward,” said Andrew Sheridan, Joint Administrator with Geoff Rowley of the Programme. “He will be outlining his plans for the project in detail early in the New Year.” [12/17/18]
The NMCA Muscle Car Nationals will host five Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series events in 2019. The five-race series that is focused on modern LS/LT performance will be run during the NMCA All-Star Nationals at Atlanta Dragway (Commerce, GA) April 4-7; Homecoming at Memphis International Raceway (Millington, TN) May 2-5; NMRA/NMCA Nitto Tire Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing at Route 66 Raceway (Joliet, IL) July 25-28; NMCA All-American Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park (Norwalk, OH) August 22-25; and the NMCA World Street Finals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis September 19-22.
In addition, the 13th Annual LSX Shootout returns home to Memphis International Raceway, the site of the original event that helped kick-off the LS drag racing craze in 2007. The official championship categories for the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series are CP Stock, presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, Proform Rumble, and LME Street King.
The Brian Tooley Racing Real Shootout, hosted during the LSX Shootout, will once again receive a championship ring and participate in the Champions Dinner during the PRI Show. It retains the same format as last year with the field including the quickest LS/LT powered Edelbrock Xtreme Street entries.
Every NMCA event will feature the popular Chevrolet Performance Street Car Challenge, offering a limited free-entry promotion to the first 75 cars. [12/17/18]
Twelve classes will be competing, including diesels, for this unique drag and drive event. At the two Indiana tracks racers will be competing on the eighth mile, with the full 1320 feet at Norwalk. [12/17/18]
If you’re headed to England’s Santa Pod Raceway there will six new events on the 2019 schedule.

May 4-5: The Springspeed Nationals (A tribute to the recently closed Shakespeare County Raceway where this national sportsman event ran for many years.)

June: 30: The Fast Show Reloaded (A second date following the April show)
July 7: The Ford Show (Racing and a car show)
Aug. 17-18: Green Light Nationals (Sportsman event)

The induction dinner and ceremony will take place in Gainesville, Fla. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Wyndham Garden Gainesville Hotel. Engine Parts Group Inc., also known as Engine Pro, has recognized three automotive aftermarket manufacturers for their business performance achievements over the past year. The awards were presented at Engine Pro’s recent annual shareholder meeting in Dallas.
The Good Stewardship Award was presented to the supplier who has maintained superior marketing practices along with sales and marketing assistance. That award was earned by Melling Engine Parts, returning sponsor of the Elite Motorsports Pro Stock Chevrolet driven by Erica Enders.
Other award-winning companies were Hastings Manufacturing (Opportunity Award) and Dura-Bond Bearing Co. (Fulfillment and Accuracy Award). [12/17/18]
