A lone photo was in the mayo jar on the Phlegm Building porch. The cryptic note attached said only, “Something new. Justin Lamb’s 2017 COPO Camaro.” Enough said? [06/30/17]

New Mag 44 from Fuel Injection Enterprises
Spud Miller’s FIE introduces the 44 Plus magneto, a hot-rodded, repairable coil for the mag 44. The winding inside is FIE’s special recipe of copper wire and laminations. It yields over 10% more voltage and a more than 10% increase in spark duration than the standard 8142 coil or the original black version of the mag 44 coil. More spark duration means the spark will last longer (more crankshaft degrees) to more thoroughly light your mixture. The special transformer oil inside allows FIE to fix or repair the coil if anything goes wrong – you don’t have to buy a new coil. (This product is not manufactured by MSD, Inc.) [06/30/17]

“We started our search for a new driver just before Memorial Day,” said Liquid Glow CEO, Richard Kratz. “The response was overwhelming. We had so many women apply who have great resumes and personal stories, but in the end Jen really stood out. She brings so much to the team we just knew it was the perfect fit.”
In addition to serving as tuner of the Magnum, Kratz is editor of sister publication MoparMax.com.
Jennifer Caputo-Armstrong is a Hollywood stuntwoman, stunt driver, athlete and former Pro Woman Motocross racer. During her close to 25-year movie career she has performed and coordinated stunts in over 200 major movies and TV shows in many international locations as well as her home base of Hollywood, CA. This year she received the Artemis Women in Action Lifetime Achievement Award. Her full list of movie credits can be found at here.
Jen will be licensing in the 900+ horsepower, 9.8-second Magnuson supercharged Liquid Glow Dodge Magnum 426 HEMI this summer and the team will resume racing this fall. The goal is to get Ms. Caputo-Armstrong comfortable in the car and get some competition experience to be ready to resume a full schedule in 2018.
“My life has been one of constant change and need for adaptation to my surroundings,” said Jennifer. “I’m counting on this being an asset in the drag racing world. I am a huge supporter of all activities that empower women. This is especially true of women who chose to compete in what would normally be considered a ‘man’s world.’ It was obvious to me, after speaking with Richard and seeing the racing program he has put together, that this view is shared by the Liquid Glow family. This fact made the driving opportunity even more appealing.”
“We are really excited about this,” said Richard. “It’s all about entertainment, movies, television, drag racing. It’s all about entertaining the fans. What could be more entertaining than merging the bright lights of Hollywood and the raw horsepower of drag racing? It’s going to be great for the team, the fans, and our marketing partners.” [06/30/17]

From left, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen and Chris “The Greek” Karamesines last year at Route 66. (Michael Fischbeck photo)NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing returns to Route 66 Raceway July 6-9 for the 20th Annual Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals, where the stars of today and yesterday will gather for four days of racing.
Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen will be on hand to meet the fans and hang out with the racers. No doubt Chris “The Greek” Karamesines, who lives nearby in Chicago, will have his dragster in the Top Fuel competition.
The two have quite a history in the sport, going back 45 years. “In fact, when I first started racing, I would stay with the Greek and would work on my car in his garage,” said McEwen.
Another of the pioneers of the sport, Pat Minick, driver of the “Chi-Town Hustler”, died earlier this year and in his honor a replica of the Funny Car will be piloted by his grandson, Mike Minick. The car will make a pass on Sunday, July 9, and will be on display as part of a special 20th Annual celebration exhibit throughout the weekend.
The exhibit will commemorate each of the previous 19 Route 66 Nationals events, complete with photos, a historical recap and ladders of each of the four pro classes. Iconic cars from the storied past of NHRA will also be on display, including Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick’s 1966 Pontiac GTO, the winner of the 1970 Winternationals, “The Hawaiian” and the industry-altering Sox & Martin Duster. Legends like Beswick, Gary Dyer and Ron Colson will make appearances throughout the weekend as well.
Legendary motorsport artist Kenny Youngblood will be on hand to meet and interact with event guests. Copies of some of his renderings will be available and will be personalized by ’blood. [06/30/17]
