Don Bruemmer's Hemi Plymouth took home the Mega Parts Heritage Award.

Don Bruemmer edged out Bob Lantero with his 9.503 on his 9.50 Index. Dick Monaco ended George Justice’s day with a strong run from his Ford. Jim Hagenhoff’s Hemi defeated a red-lighting Jeff Roberts. Tom Hoffman took out the third member of the Kossuth Racing Team, Clayton Kossuth, with another solid pass. Tim Frees sent Damon Kuhn back to Texas in a battle of red Mopars. Bruce Lang showed the first round was no fluke with another incredible .023 Reaction Win over Clay Kossuth. Three-time Series Champion Russ Berens ended Doug Duell’s hope of a repeat win with a very nice .033 light.

The remaining Super Stocks returned for Round 3. BJ Bax took the win when Bruce Lang pushed it a little too close and red-lighted with a -.009 RT. Don Bruemmer’s high flying Hemi defeated the Ford of Dick Monaco.

Jim Hagenhoff moved on over an uncharacteristically tardy Rosie Kossuth. Tim Frees strapped a .016 light on close friend and fellow Wisconsinite Russ Berens to take the win.

Joe Ewing moved on with another great .020 light. Tom Hoffman made good use of his bye run with a nice .019 RT.

The tension was building as the Victory cars moved up for Round 4. BJ Bax won over the red-lighting Bruemmer. Tim Frees’s .028 light and 10.52 on his 10.50 Index was too much for Hagenhoff to overcome. In one of the best races of the day, Joe Ewing’s .008 light and 10.51 on his 10.50 Index edged out Tom Hoffman’s .013 RT and 10.79 on his 10.75 Index.

This left just three combatants left for Round 5. Bax drew the bye, guaranteeing him a spot in the finals. This left the two Wedge-powered red Mopars of Frees and Ewing to decide the other finalist. They both were on 10.50 Indexes, making it a heads-up race. The two mighty Mopars left almost identically and marched down the track side by side. As the two crossed the finish line, the win light came on in Frees’ lane.

Now the stage was set for a classic final. Plymouth vs Pontiac, Wisconsin vs Missouri. The two veteran racers quickly prepared their cars and returned to decide who would take home the Victory trophy. Once again, both cars left with almost identical Reaction Times. The crowd was on their feet as the two charged down the track. In the end, Frees’s .01-over defeated the very game .03-over run of Bax.

Wisconsin racer Bruce Lang (shown) won the all Barracuda battle over Jay Freihage with a very nice .014 Reaction Time. He won the Clay Kossuth & Sons Star of the Race award.

Series newcomer George Justice enjoyed his first Victory NSS round win with a stout .021 light. Tim Frees’ hard launching Max Wedge Wagon took out the beautiful Chevy of Jerry Bolton.

Jim Hagenhoff returned to action with his fan favorite wheelstanding Plymouth with a win over Bill Ping.

Jeff Roberts in his Ed Bax-prepared Pontiac took out the always tough Bob Westhoff in his big Ford.

The winners cooled their cars and returned to the lanes for Round 2. Randy Spurgeon set the tone for the round with an incredible .006 RT to move on to the next round.

Rosie Kossuth took out local legend Kenny Gresham in a very close double breakout race. Joe Ewing moved on with a great .025 and almost dead-on run.
