Also at the PRI Show, Ryan Anderson from Son Uva Digger Monster Truck won the Patterson Elite Performance engine raffled off at the Sunnen Engine Charity Sweepstakes organized by Sunnen Products Company.
All proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will be donated to Victory Junction. Founded in 2004 by NASCAR’s Petty Family, Victory Junction is a year-round camping facility in Randleman, NC, for children ages 6 to 16 with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses. [12/15/17]
Lancaster (NY) Dragway’s season opener is Friday, April 27, with tech inspection and time trials. The Dragway will have the Top, Mod, Street and Bikes/Sleds Classes competing on a regular basis.
Lancaster’s weekly drag racers will once again earn IHRA points and be eligible to qualify for the Summit Team Finals in September. Drivers that earn a spot for the Summit Team Finals can also compete for the $200,000 IHRA World Championship during the IHRA World Finals at Memphis, TN, in October.
There will be five visits by the Buffalo Street Outlaws with some TNT Hot Rods, Supercharged Bounty Hunters, Jet Funny Cars, Top Fuel and Alcohol Burning Funny car events as well.
Test n Tune will be back on Tuesday nights, including Jr. Dragsters, starting May 15. The popular Wednesday Cruise Nights will take place starting May 2 through mid-September. Cruise Night will have the same rules and policies in effect as 2017. [12/15/17]

“Coming here and seeing this means so much to my family and team,” the Greeneville, TN, native said. “We’ve always had great camaraderie all through the years. It’s nice to go out and see the sights [on the NHRA circuit], but it’s always awesome coming home and seeing the mountains and Bristol.” [12/15/17]
The Agent told you earlier about the attempt to rescind Net Neutrality for internet providers. Unfortunately, the FCC led by chairman Ajit Pai, has voted to remove the prohibitions on blocking web traffic, slowing it, or demanding payment for faster passage via the networks.
This would allow websites willing to pay for speedier service to move smaller companies who don’t have deep enough pockets down the list for service, meaning that some websites would load slower or would not appear in searches.
The changes are not expected to take place for at least two months, and you can bet there will be a court challenge to this action. [12/15/17]
Looks like a good plan to go 500 mph.
Plans are in the works for the Bloodhound SSC to run for the first time on the dry lake bed racetrack at Haksteen Pan, Northern Cape, South Africa, in October 2018. The team will be targeting 500 mph on their journey to set a new World Land Speed Record. Their goal is 1,000 mph.
DRO’s Tom McCarthy is following the Bloodhound attempt. Here the vehicle is in England. See McCarthy’s first report at here.
Data on the interaction between the solid aluminum wheels, which will be used for the first time, coupled with ‘base drag’ measurements, will provide ‘real world’ insight into the power required to set records. Base drag relates to the aerodynamic force produced by low pressure at the rear of the Car, sucking it back. As the car approaches transonic speeds, this force far exceeds the friction of the air passing over BLOODHOUND’s bodywork. [12/15/17]
Vortech Superchargers
Vortech Superchargers displayed several new superchargers at the PRI Show. Included was the Vortech V-30 131A, which is good for well over 3,000 horsepower and easily eclipses the efficiency and output capability of much larger competitor’s offerings. The V-30 948B-11 features a newly designed impeller to maximize the compressor stage, specifically for use in the Renegade Racing class of the NMRA. The V-15/V-17 Supercharger with all new, all billet gearcase, has fully steetable compressor stages from 1,000 to 2,500+ horsepower. For the nostalgic street enthusiast, the V-3 Heritage Series superchargers have the sound of the original 1990 V-1 Vortech gears in a self-lubricated supercharger package. [12/15/17]
