At Lights Out 10, the annual Donald “Duck” Long production at SGMP, a new eighth-mile world record for the RvW cars was set on Friday, Feb. 15, at 3.613 seconds and 205 mph by Kevin Rivenbark, of Clinton, NC, driving the GALOT-sponsored 1969 Camaro bodied car. He edged out Tim Slavens of Marshfield, MO, who previously wowed the crowd with a 3.621 that didn’t last long.
Our own Tom McCarthy will have a look at the complete event coming later in DRO. [02/18/19]
The Twilight Nationals are round seven of Australia’s 2018/19 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series held at Sunset Strip in Mildura, Australia.
It was the final event of the season for the Junior Dragster racers. Jake Berias was crowned champion based on points despite losing in the early rounds at Mildura. Zara Board was runner-up.
Amber Young got her first event win.
Also hoisting ANDRA Christmas Tree trophies at the end of the Twilight Nationals were event winners Colin Griffin (Super Gas), Shane Walker (Modified Bike), Brian Symes (Super Street), Martin Mirco (Super Sedan), Wade Kisyma (Modified), Wayne Talbot (Supercharged Outlaws), Andrew Thompson (Top Sportsman), David Willis (Competition Bike) and Robert Dekert (SuperComp).

The champions for these other brackets will be decided at the ANDRA Grand Final event at the Perth Motorplex to be held April 6-7. [02/18/19]
Last year saw the return of doorslammers to racing at England’s Santa Pod Raceway after a long absence. They are getting ready to run again, but this year will have some Scandinavian big names in the VP Race Fuels Pro Doorslammer class. No fewer than eight “outlaw” cars, never seen before in the UK are getting ready to compete, along with the regular “conventional” Scandinavian Pro Mod favorites.
Last year Mattias Wulcan’s 5.53sec/262mph qualifying shot in his ‘outlaw’ Camaro was the quickest, fastest doorslammer pass ever seen in Europe. He also competed in the US in Pro Extreme with the PDRA, seen here winning at Darlington.
Jimmy Ålund’s class-legal Pro Mod machine carried off the £10,000 first prize at last year’s Santa Pod event.
The Top Doorslammer class in Sweden is run to the eighth mile, but Pro Doorslammers run on the quarter mile at Santa Pod. Entries for the VP Race Fuels Pro Doorslammer class will headline the May 17-19 event with a supporting cast of classes that includes The OCS Big Bracket, Pro Street, True Street, 6-cylinder, Webster Race Engineering 4-cylinder and Eibach Front Wheel Drive. [02/18/19]
The Agent was happy to see the number of entries for this week’s Arizona Nationals is up from the Winternationals in the three professional classes: Top Fuel (16), Funny Car (17) and Pro Stock (18). Come on, guys and gals, we’ll make full nitro fields yet! [02/18/19]
